Owner

As a published Author, our owner Shamielle Alston knows first hand the frustration of trying to promote ones books.  Now with several books under her belt, she is a seasoned pro in the promotional industry. In an effort to assist authors and keep many from abandanoning their writing dream due to frustration, Write Turns Allowed was birthed.

From Carrboro, North Carolina this Carolinian delved into the writing industry very early. From poetry contests in elementary school, to creative writing contests in high school, Shamielle Alston allowed her writing to flourish.

More than an author, Shamielle is also a lyricist, poet and play write. She has written monologues for stage, curriculums for Christian Education Programs. Needles to say, our owner does not succumb to boundaries as a writer.

Bringing her creativity as a writer to the table, our Owner provides wonderful ideas based on your book and personal needs as an author. She constantly networks to bring the best oppurtunities for our members to promote their books. Using experience gained through her efforts she also brings wonderful connections in the industry to the table.




Publishing Consultaton

Cheryl Pickett has been a freelance writer for almost a decade. Her work has appeared both on and offline in newspapers, ezines and more.

Cheryl's current endeavor is to encourage others in their writing careers and to help them avoid the pitfalls on their path to published.
In her new book, Publishing Possibilities: 8 Steps to Understanding Your Options & Choosing the Best Path for Your Book, she puts her skills to work helping authors navigate the book publishing world. Her personalized, step-by-step approach is unique, and will empower authors to make solid decisions throughout their publishing journey.

The path to published is full of  twists and turns and there's a lot you need to learn along the way. However, you don't have to travel alone. Cheryl Pickett, the Publishing Possibilities Coach, is ready to walk along side you and work with you to make your goals a reality.




Industry Training

Donna Battle is known for the clarity and depth she brings to the table in various arenas of life. Having recieved her  MDiv from Duke University and her B.A. in Public Relations from NC A&T State University she is a treasured jewel to our staff.

Donna brings more than 16 years experience in the public speaking industry with her to Write Turns Allowed. Common areas of focus include: The Affecting Power of Individuals in Community, Power of Choice. She also served as a Life Coach for Shaw University.  Donna brings more than experience to the table as a trainer for WTA, she also brings passion. One area of focus in to enable individuals to achieve personal, and professional goals. This is why she offers both group classes as well as individual sessions to members of Write Turns Allowed.




Website Design

Candice Taylor Jones is who our members will interact with if they are in need of assistance with designing their website.

Candice brings years of experience, creativity and educational know how to the table. She received her BS in Business Administration from Appalachin State University.

As an IT Specialist, she worked as Webmaster Assistant for the Human Resources Department at Appalachin State University.

 

Her experience includes the following:

 

  • Computer Information Systems - Systems Analysis & Design, Managing Corporate Data, Managing IT Infrastructures, Developing Software Solutions (VB.Net), Using Internet Technologies (ASP.Net)
  • Team Projects -Management & Construction of Database for the Walker College of Business Scholarship Office (Project Manager), IT Infrastructures Research Project with IT Department for Town of Boone (Project Manager)
